A parliamentary team that reached Mustang district on Monday carried out a feasibility study to open Korala border in Nepal with China to import goods from the neighbour Tuesday morning.

The team led by Chairperson of the Development Committee under the Legislature-Parliament Rabindra Adhikari, comprising other members lawmakers Prakash Poudel and Shree Maya Thakali, Mustang Chief District Officer Ganesh Adhikari and other security officials, held informal talks with representatives of concerned authorities on the matter in Jomsom, the district headquarters beforehand.

Santosh Sherchan, chief of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, Lomanthang, said that the team took stock of existing situation of the border point and prerequisites to be adopted to operate it.

He said that the team also discussed on the security concerns of Chinese side on the matter as well.

He said that the team conducted the study and will return to Jomsom today.

"We will hold consultations on the matter at local and higher level before submitting the report," Chair Adhikari said.

The team is said to be holding interaction on the matter in Jomsom on Wednesday.

The border point that was brought into operation around 12 years ago was closed by the Chinese authority, citing security challenges. RSS
