The ruling CPN-UML has decided to address the demands of the agitating Madhesi Morcha without affecting the national interest. In view of the decision, UML has decided to hold talks with main opposition Nepali Congress and coalition partner UCPN (Maoist) this Wednesday.

In a meeting of UML top brass held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, party leaders concluded that they will not agree on any demands under pressure from the Morcha that would affect the national interest.

“Everyone is aware that an agreement is to be reached and the current crisis should be resolved immediately. We are serious towards ending this crisis,” said UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal, “UML will present itself flexibly as per the proposals of other parties.”

Likewise, the party has made up its mind to move ahead with constitution amendment if it brings out a positive attitude in the agitating Madhes-based parties.
