KIMFF to host 80 films in 5 days
The 13th iteration of the much-awaited Kathmandu International Film Festival (KIMFF) is all set to be held at the Kumari Hall in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, from December 10 to 14.The 13th iteration of the much-awaited Kathmandu International Film Festival (KIMFF) is all set to be held at the Kumari Hall in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, from December 10 to 14.
The film festival is set to feature films from 25 countries.
Organised by Himal Association, KIMFF started as a non-competitive, biennial festival in 2000. Since 2007 the festival has been a competitive and annual event. The festival, one of the major film festivals in Nepal, has been attracting not only film enthusiasts and auteurs but also scholars and journalists alike.
The festival will feature short films and documentaries under
different categories such as International Competition, Non-competitive, and Nepal Panaroma (Fiction and Documentary).
The 2015 iteration will feature 14 films from around the world under International Competition category such as Cervin, Le rêve de la femme-oiseau (Matterhorn, The Birdwoman’s Dream), Jeff Lowe’s Metanoia, Jurek, K2 and the Invisible Footmen, K2 Dotknac Nieba (K2- Touching the Sky),
Nini, Panaroma, Piesn Pasterza (Shepherd’s Song), and Riders of the Mist, among others.
While competing under Nepal Panaroma section are Kamaro (A Slave), Serdhak-The Golden Hill, Heaven is Black, Auntie Ganga, Bhagyale Bachekaharu (Nepal Earthquake: Heroes, Survivors and Miracles), and Rise of the Artisans- Swayambhu Post Earthquake, among others.
