Ghirau Yadav, who sustained severe burn injuries, is undergoing treatment at Prithivi Chand Hospital in Parasi. Ghirau, a resident of Pharsatikar in Rupandehi district, was returning home from his aunt Bindrawati’s place in Padari.
Bindrawati said some protesters doused him with petrol and set alight while he was returning home on a motorcycle. Mohammad Rarul Hoda, the medical superintendent at the hospital, said Yadav is in “critical condition”.
Police have detained two persons—Rajesh Saithawar and another man, who is yet to be identified—for investigation.
Meanwhile, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik district Chair Rabindra Yadav said the Madhesi Morcha activists were not involved in the incident.
