Indigenous nationalities stage sit-in in front of Baluwatar

Kathmandu

Dec 16, 2015-

Indigenous nationalities have today staged sit-in in front of the official residence of the Prime Ministerial at Baluwatar, demanding their rights be incorporated in the new constitution.

They staged sit-in under the coordination Indigenous Nationalities Awareness Campaign. The campaign complained that the new constitution has failed to accommodate many of their rights.

The campaign also demanded that the government should end current fuel crisis and black marketing, ensure human rights and address concerns of the agitating parties through talks.

The campaign demanded proportional representation of indigenous nationalities Madhesis, Dalits and Muslims in all the organs of the state.

Arjun Maharjan, coordinator of the campaign, said that they would stage sit-in in front of the Nepal-based United Nations office and the Human Rights Commission office on December 18. RSS
