A group of youth volunteers on Sunday went to the village to distribute the blankets. According to Ayon President Brabim Kumar KC, they decided to reach out to the victims following the news about the death of quake survivors due to cold that appeared in Kantipur daily.
KC said a seven-member team distributed blankets to people in wards 3 and 4 of the VDC. “No one has ever reached the village for assistance so far,” he said.
KC informed that the villagers have been living in dire conditions under tarpaulins in this severely cold weather. Highlighting the need for immediate help, KC said the government should not delay their assistance any further.
Ayon, a federation of over 90 youth organisations, has been involved in various relief programmes ever since the April and May earthquakes. The federation has already helped over 16,000 households and supported in constructing over 50 schools in quake-affected districts.
