Inaugurating the 'Renewable Energy Exhibition 2072' on Friday, the prime minister said the promotion of solar, wind and bio energy to cope with the severe fuel crisis was the top priority of the government.
Though it has been around 105 years since power was generated for the first time from the Chandrajyoti Canal, so far only 785 megawatts of electricity has been produced in the country, he said while appealing for support from all sides concerned to develop the energy sector.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli said a long struggle for achieving citizens' rights had been over with the promulgation of the new constitution and now the time was to take the country towards the path of economic progress. There is no meaning to hit the country showing dissatisfactions with the constitution as it has guaranteed equal rights and identity of all.
The three-day exhibition organised by the Ministry of Population and Environment Ministry and Alternative Energy Promotion Center comprises 137 stalls showcasing information about alternative energy and about alternative energy system plants.
Environment Minister Bishwendra Paswan said the use of various sources of renewable energy would prove crucial in addressing the severe fuel crisis facing the country at present. The government was fully committed towards materialising its plan of massively cutting the load shedding hours by the next twelve months.
