Big three propose forming separate mechanism to resolve state demarcation row

In a meeting of the joint taskforce formed to finalise the 11-point demands of the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) at Singh Durbar on Thursday, the parties put forward the proposal. But the Madhesi Morcha said that the issues should be settled by the joint taskforce itself as the formation of a separate mechanism would be complicated for various reasons.
Taskforce member and Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) vice chairman Hirdahesy Tripathi said the state border demarcation should be finalised by the taskforce because questions will be raised over constitutionality, jurisdiction, and legality of the separate mechanism.
But the leaders representing the big three political parties at the meeting said the Madhesi Morcha leaders were position about their proposal.
Members of the taskforce from SLMM went to attend the meeting of SLMM at Tarai Madhes Loktantrk Party’s office in Bijulibazaar. The task force was scheduled continue its meeting at in Bijujali Bazaar.
Mahesh Achary of Nepali Congress, Bhim Rawal of CPN-UML and Krishna Bahadur Mahara of UCPN (Maoist) are the members of three political parties in the taskforce, while leaders Hirdayesh Tripathi, Rajendra Shrestha and Ram Naresh Raya represent the Madhesi Morcha.
