National Coordination Council of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) based in Saudi Arabia has decided to conduct a survey about the employment condition of Nepali migrant workers in the country and other Middle East countries.National Coordination Council of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) based in Saudi Arabia has decided to conduct a survey about the employment condition of Nepali migrant workers in the country and other Middle East countries.
The decision comes after the media reports about Nepali migrant workers’ plight in Middle East countries surfaced.
Association’s Chairperson Narayan Paswan informed that the survey will be conducted to draw the attention of government authorities towards the problems faced by migrant workers and to pinpoint specific issues related to foreign employment in Middle East.
He said that the survey form has been published and the survey will be conducted soon. The association has said that the facts and figures obtained from the survey will be accumulated in a detailed objective report and will be forwarded to government authorities.
It is believed that the survey will reflect true picture of labour issues and implementation of government’s “free visa free ticket scheme.” The association has taken the move even as the preparations for labour agreement between Saudi Arabia and Nepal government is in the final stage.
Currently, there are more than 500,000 Nepalis working in Saudi Arabia, the largest market for Nepali migrant workers.
