Transportation resumes in Siraha
Public transportation service resumed in Siraha district on Sunday after being stalled for more than five months.Public transportation service resumed in Siraha district on Sunday after being stalled for more than five months.
The Sagarmatha Transportation Entrepreneurs Association formally announced the resumption of vehicular movement across the district from Sunday. Mohammad Salim Rain, a member of the association, said that the decision was taken in view of the hardships to the public and transportation entrepreneurs.
Though the market places were opened and night bus service resumed in the area recently, the public transportation had been halted during day time due to the Madhes protest.
Rain said that Madhesi Morcha leaders had neglected their repeated requests to resume the transportation service in the district. Growing frustrated with the leaders, the transport entrepreneurs decided to go ahead without Morcha’s consent.
The association took the decision as every other service in the district like market place, government offices, night bus, among others, have already resumed. In such a situation, the association could not remain a mere spectator and decided to resume the day bus service, he said.
A total of 52 day buses left the district for their destinations in various parts of the country. Due to Morcha’s prolonged banda, the bus entrepreneurs have already incurred losses in millions. The bus service came to a grinding halt since August 15 last year due to the banda called by the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha.
