NC leader Acharya’s health condition stable

Acharya was rushed to National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences at 7:15 am Tuesday after he felt uneasy learning the untimely demise of Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala.
Acharya –former Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs – had suffered from right sided weakness and inability to speak since 5 am after falling unconscious while paying tribute to Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala’s mortal remains, said the Institute.
After being admitted, the leader underwent a CT scan which showed hypertension related left basal ganglia hematoma (clot) extending into the ventricles. CT angiography done to rule out vascular anomaly was normal, it is stated.
Acharya is known to have hypertension for 25 years and was on regular medication. He is being treated with a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, neurointensivists, radiologists, critical care nurses and physiotherapists.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Upendra Devkota said Acharya had suffered from brain haemorrhage due to blood vein rupture stopping the blood flow.
Dr Devkota said the decision on surgery would be taken after monitoring whether the blood clot in brain would dissolve in four to seven days.
