Prime Minister KP Oli has summoned a meeting of a taskforce constituting representatives of three major parties and agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha for Friday. The taskforce has failed to sit for talks since January 17.
The taskforce was formed in January to iron out differences between the government and Madhesi Morcha on inching closer to consensus on the issues including demarcation of federal boundaries.
The major parties have appointed Mahesh Acharya of the Nepali Congress, Bhim Rawal of the CPN-UML and Krishna Bahadur Mahara of the UCPN (Maoist) to the panel.
From Madhesi Morcha—Hridayesh Tripathi of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Rajendra Shrestha of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal Laxmanlal Karna of Sadbhawana Party and Ram Naresh Raya, senior leader of Tarai Madhes Sadhbhawana Party—are in the taskforce.
