The Nepal Telecom is preparing to downsize the number of its employees. A meeting of the company Board of Directors held on Thursday under the chairmanship Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, took a decision to this end.
The first phase of the process to downsize the NTC staff number will see the voluntary retirement of 796 employees under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) introduced by the company earlier.
Company Joint Spokesperson Dilliram Adhikari said the employees selected for the VRS will be given attractive cash and handed down honourable retirement.
The decision to cut down on the staff is aimed at company's reformation and management of the human resources.
