The conservation-based organisation and the CNI will share expertise and resources on sustainable infrastructure development and promote environmental safeguards to maintain harmony between biodiversity conservation and development activities for sustainable Nepal.
An agreement signed between the WWF and the CNI is effective from February 1, 2015 to January 31, 2021, and this joint initiative aims to contribute in sustainable development practices to mitigate the increasing risks from haphazard development activities.
The partnership with the private sector is expected to create a platform to harness the capacities of both sectors through the development and implementation of separate and joint programmes on capacity building, policy and advocacy and media mobilisation.
The CNI, the apex body of Nepalese industrialists, has already expressed its interest in working with the government and concerned bodies in reconstruction works in the wake of the devastating Gorkha earthquake in April last year.
