A Nepali Congress activist was shot dead at Banaganga Municipality-10 in Kapilvastu district on Thursday night.

Two motorcycle-borne assailants had fired at Rajesh Sen at Jitpur Chowk at around 8pm. Critically injured Sen, 37, died at the Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital. Sen was the chairman of the Banaganga committee of Nepal Tarun Dal, the NC’s youth wing. A banda was enforced in Banaganga on Friday demanding security and action against the guilty. Two persons were held in connection with the incident.
