A government team had pasted red stickers on these two properties, suggesting unsafe for immediate inhabitation, after conducting an assessment of the buildings. They were asked to get the DDA done by a third party. “Park View submitted the DDA a month ago, while Oreintal did it two weeks ago,” said Raju Man Manadhar, division chief at DUDBC’s Division Office, Kathmandu. “We are verifying the reports.” Once the verification process is completed, the government will ask the property developers to come up with Seismic Capacity Analysis which will clarify whether the structures are safe for use. The final decision will be taken by a panel comprising three-five experts. “If the panel is convinced, we can let them resurrect the properties. If not, the panel might also ask the developers to knock down the buildings completely,” Manandhar said. (PR)
