Government officials in Lamjung have decided to provide school uniforms, stationeries and bags to the impoverished children in the district to keep them in school.
Chief Education Officer Gyanmani Nepal of the district, several government employees have pledged their participation in the programme. “It is an independent campaign for the children to at least get primary level
education,” Nepal said.
According to him, there are many children in the district whose parents are too poor to buy them school uniforms and stationery items. “The campaign will start on March 1 from Janabikash Higher Secondary School at Besishahar,” he added.
A majority of the impoverished children belong to minority and Dalit communities in the district. And to encourage them to go to school regularly, the government employees will spend Rs 6,000 per kid every year.
