Army chief leaves for China today

Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri is leaving on a week-long official visit to China on Sunday.
Invited by Gen Fang Fenghui, chief of the People’s Liberation Army of China, this is Gen Chhetri’s first visit to the northern neighbour since assuming the top Army post in September.
In course of the visit, a Nepal Army delegation is scheduled to go on an observation tour of Chinese military structures and to hold meetings with Chinese generals, the NA’s Directorate of Public Relations stated on Saturday.
“Nepal Army believes that the Chief of Army Staff’s visit would help make the relations subsisting between the armies of the two countries more cordial and deeper as well as contribute towards promoting mutual interests,” the NA stated.
ccompanying Gen Chhetri on the visit are his spouse Rita Chhetri and Director of Military Operations Maj Gen Himalaya Thapa, among other officers.
