Nepal Army has granted educational scholarship to Sonish Awal, the ‘miracle child’ who survived last year’s devastating earthquake before being rescued after 22 hours by the Nepal Army.
Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chettri met with the parents on Sonish at Army Headquarters on Sunday and announced the scholarship saying that the NA will bear all the costs of Awal’s education until the completion of his undergraduate degree from class 6 at Sallaghari-based Army Boarding School.
According to Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations, Awal will receive his primary education at the school he is currently enrolled in and the NA will provide fixed financial assistance, educational materials and other miscellaneous expenses for the period.
