The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has sought a 30-day remand of Journalist Kanak Mani Dixit for further investigation during a Special Court hearing on Sunday, informed court registrar Bhadra Kali Pokharel.

Advocates representing both sides are currently debating the CIAA's plea.

Senior Advocate Shambu Thapoa and Satish Kharel are representing Dixit.

A team of police deployed by the CIAA had arrested Dixit on Friday as per the CIAA Act 2048 (1991) Section 19.1 (c) for his defiance and non-cooperation in its investigation despite repeated notice to appear before the commission.

Later on Saturday, Dixit was rushed to Bir Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after complaints of heart ailment.

However, Dixit was not present at the court today following doctor's suggestion for round-the-clock care.
