Indefinite strike along Karnali Highway leaves passengers stranded

KarnaliTranspot Entrepreneurs Association Nepal Chairman, Min Bahadur Thapa said that the strike will not be called off until the issuance of contract a paper to ChandanNath Transport is investigated upon.
Thapaargued that ChandanNath Transport cannot operate its buses in an illegal manner adding that the association will not let the transportation company buses to run along the Karnali Highway unless the company fulfils the due procedures.
Earlier, an all-party meeting held in the JumlaDistrict Administration Office had concluded that the ChandanNath Transport could commence their services without any obstruction from April29.
Hundreds of passengers have been stranded in the nearby bus park area. The buses plying from Jumla to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu also have been obstructed.
Meanwhile, ChandanNath Transport has said that it will operate the buses from April 29 onwards as per the meeting’s decision. They also challenged the association to prove that their documents are unlawful in the court.
Chief District Officer Rudra Prasad Pandit said that the association can file a writ petition at the court if ChandanNathPvt. Ltd has acquired the transportation documents illegally. Pandit also suggested both the parties to solve the issue as the passengers are being affected by the strike.
The passengers have been calling for the transportation service to be resumed.
