CPL set for Saturday start

A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament which will also be competed by national team cricketers, informed the organisers during a press conference on Wednesday. The winners of the tournament will get Rs 200,000 and the runners-up will take home Rs 100,000.
The man-of-the-series will receive a motorbike. It will be the first time that any player of the tournament in cricketing event in Nepal will be walking away with a motorbike. Although the tournament is named as Premier League, the organisers have decided to hold a knockout event under the same name.
“We were making preparations for a League event but we came to know lately that, we have to organise the tournament in one single venue. So we decided to hold a knockout event under the same name,” informed Kancha-njunga CEO Subash Pradhan.
The participating teams include CCRC, Golden Gate, SPA Dhangadi, Pokhara, Santwona, LBEF, KMC, White House, HCA, St Xaviers, Platinum, NIMS, KCM, IoE, Triton and Reliance. Expert Education and Visa Services has provided Rs 700,000 as the title sponsor.
“Its a pleasure for us to be a part of this event. We love cricket and event like this will guide the game towards professionalism,” said Expert Director Sanjay Sharma.
Kanchanjunga Mananging Director Shailendra Khadka said his company would like to make it big as the tournament progresses. “We had planned for this event for a long time. We would like to thank sponsors and hopefully we would go big as time progresses,” said Khadka.
The tournament will precede by a live performance from pop singer Nabin K Bhattarai and his band. Meanwhile, ‘fan of the day’ will be chosen and awarded with Rs 10,000 each day, a new practice in Nepal.
