Kanak’s wife Shanta Dixit on Friday registered the case at the rights body claiming that the CIAA took the journalist and co-publisher of Himalmedia into custody as Dixit was critical of the appointment of Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki. The CIAA has taken Dixit in judicial custody for “amassing property by misusing his position as chair of the public transportation entity”.
In the complaint, Shanta claims that the CIAA infringed upon the fundamental rights of her husband by preventing lawyers from meeting him for legal aid. She also demanded compensation for psychological, physical and social damage done to him and his family members due to the action.
