Keeping hope alive
Let us let them live, let them smile and let them dream,” said Siddhant Shrestha, Founder/ Executive Director of Rose Foundation at the event Shivangi’s Night for Charity, held at Moksh, in Jhamsikhel, on Sunday night.Let us let them live, let them smile and let them dream,” said Siddhant Shrestha, Founder/ Executive Director of Rose Foundation at the event Shivangi’s Night for Charity, held at Moksh, in Jhamsikhel, on Sunday night. The ‘them’ Shrestha is referring to is the cancer victim children who are struggling against the cancer disease. The musical event in Moksh, that featured rock heavyweights 1974 Ad,was organised to help raise funds for young cancer patients and help them win their battle against cancer.
The event, along with raising funds for children battling cancer at the Oncology Department of Kanti Children’s Hospital, Kathmandu, was also organised to honour Shivangi Rai, who lost her battle against cancer in 2007. Shivangi lost her life to cancer after fighting it for nine months but her dream of seeing a cancer-free world has been kept alive through the foundation’s many works—the event being one of them. The event was jointly organised by Rai’s family and the Rose Foundation.
Two-year-old Mohammad Hasan, eight-year-old Bitisha, nine-year-old Rohan and nine-year-old Sanjeeta will be receiving treatment from the funds raised from the event. The event, which started off with a short musical performance, also had a documentary screening on the kids. “Cancer can be fought. Cancer can be cured. Let us all stand together to fight cancer and work together for hope,” added Shrestha at the welcome speech event.
Popular Nepali rock band 1974 AD also extended their support to the cause with energetic renditions of their songs, old and new, and a couple of covers. In 2015, Rose Foundation had raised USD 4000 and helped in the treatment of four children at Kanti Children’s Hospital.
