Writ registered at SC demanding local bodies' election

The writ was filed by advocates Dr Chandrakant Gyawali, Parshuram Updhyay, Bimal Gyawali and Leeladhar Updhyay. In the writ, they argue that without local bodies' election the implementation of new constitution could not take place, public commitment expressed by the government would remain unfulfilled while the people's right to be governed by representatives of their choice would be violated.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Nepali Congress party, leader of the main opposition party, Local Development Ministry, Election Commission, among others have been named as defendants in the writ. RSS
