Missing Russian trekker found dead at Pisang

A Russian trekker who had gone missing while returning after ascending the Pisang Mountain in Manang district was found dead on Monday. The climber identified as Sergey Chernyshow from Russia had gone missing since Tuesday.
Chief District Officer Bhim Kanta Sharma confirmed that Charnyshow, 51, was found dead at an altitude of 5800 meters on the mountain. He said the dead body was found in a gorge and a rescue team has been trying to retrieve it by using a rope.
He added that the rescue operation has been affected due to snowfall and bad weather condition. It takes around 4 hours to reach the upper region of Pisang where the helicopter can land, he said.
The body could be airlifted to Kathmandu if it could be retrieved until late on Monday or Tuesday evening. A well-equipped team of security personnel from Kathmandu have been deployed for the rescue operation. The team found the body.
The other members of the 7-member expedition team have returned. The deceased foreigner’s son has reached Manang.
Pisang Peak is a pyramidal trekking peak above Pisang, a village on the Annapurna Circuit, within the Manang District, northern Nepal.
