In a statement on Monday, Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations has called on the general public to not be misled against the institution.
“Nepal Army Wives Association organised the charity show with intention to continue their support to earthquake victims and Nepal Army, in coordination with other security agencies, extended assistance for the security of performers and audience,” read the statement.
The statement shed light on the practice of using Tribhuvan International Airport’s appropriate sections by the Nepal Army in the past as well without hampering the sensitiveness, practicability and TIA’s security practices.
The statement further elaborates that official from Nepal Army’s engineering directorate are present at the TIA along with other security agencies for observing the security provisions to important dignitaries.
“It is obvious that the army personnel would be wearing their uniform while executing their duty at the places where they are assigned,” according to the statement.
The statement also made it clear that the army personnel appointed at ‘Amarpanchhi’ were office bearers of Nepal Army Wives Association and representatives of the programme management.
Nepal Army has been dragged into a controversy after one of its generals received Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Malaika Arora, the other entertainer, was also received by senior officials from Nepal Army at the airport on Friday.
The Bollywood celebrities were in Kathmandu to attend Amarpanchhi.
After a flood of complaints, the PMO had sought explanation from the Defence Ministry.
