A Singaporean man was arrested with three kilogram gold from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Tuesday night.
The gold was concealed inside a microwave and amplifier carried by Marugain Selbham. He came to Kathmandu by a Malindo Air flight that landed at TIA at around 8:30 pm last night.
"Customs officials found 37 pieces of gold weighing three kg hidden inside electrical appliances during a regular security check," said customs official Tulasi Chaulagain.
Foreigners are allowed to carry only 50 grams of gold in Nepal. “It is illegal to carry more than that amount,” said Chaulagain.
The arrested man has been kept at customs custody.
