Altogether 202 persons were held for vandalism during the strike called by the transport entrepreneurs in protest against the government's decision to hike fine for traffic rules violation, according to Police Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Madhav Prasad Joshi.
There was no report of vandalism and arrest from other parts of the country although the strike was enforced nation-wide, DIGP Joshi said.
Public vehicles stayed off the road across the country, including the Capital city, as the transport entrepreneurs and workers associated with various transport associations including the Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs Association protested the government's recent move to hike penalty with effect from May 14.
