A team of US army has arrived in Dolakha district to distribute humanitarian aid to mark one-year anniversary of the sad demise their colleagues in a helicopter crash while delivering relief in the district after the devastating earthquake.

The US soldiers went straight to the Sundrawati VDC after arriving at Charikot, the district headquarters, on Monday. They arrived here on a tourist bus. “The remaining days will be spent in Sundrawat,” said a member of the team, who speaks Nepali.

The team arrived from Pennsylvania of US to commemorate the death of their fellow US soldiers and to invest their time for the service of Dolkha folks, Nepal Army source said. The visiting US cadets came to Nepal as common US citizen, it has been learnt.

Charikot-based Ranabhim Battallion of Nepal Army said the US army team comprises of 35 individuals. They spent two days in Kathmandu before coming to the district. According to information received by the Ranabhim Battallion, the US Army team will stay in 'Sundar Basti' till June 17.

Building a school building in Dolakha is the primary objective of the team led by Lieutenant colonel of US Army. The team will return to US on June 19, according to a schedule submitted by the team to Nepal Army.

The US Army team is also planning to entertain quake-traumatised people in the district during their 17-day stay, it has been learnt.
