A committee has been formed under Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak to probe the leak of budget contents as demanded by the major opposition party.
Lekhak will lead the eight-member committee. Other committee members have not been named yet. The committee was sanctioned by the parliament on Tuesday.
The committee has been given 105 days to present their report. The committee will study past incidents of budget leakage and table its report with suggestions for not repeating such activities in the future.
The ruling parties had agreed to form the committee with two member committee comprising Minister for Law Agni Kharel and NC leader Ramesh Lekhak formed to decide on the size of the committee and its Terms of Reform.
The NC on Monday obstructed the House proceedings demanding investigation into the budget leak as some media had published crucial features of the annual budget before it was tabled in the Parliament.
Meanwhile, the House session resumed on Tuesday after the formation of probe committee. House Speaker Onsari Gharti had summoned the meeting for today after the NC obstructed it for four times on Monday over leakage of budget.
