US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B. Teplitz and the US Embassy community on Wednesday hung rainbow banners in Kathmandu to show their support for the LGBT community during Pride Month 2016 and celebrate the great diversity of the American people.
June is LGBT Pride Month in commemoration of the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969.
“Pride Month recognises the history of the LGBT movement, while acknowledging the work that remains to be done, and celebrating the progress we have made in creating a more inclusive and accepting world,” read a press statement issued by US Embassy.
