Gathabandhan weighs up PM’s talks offer
Leaders of Sanghiya Gathabandhan, an alliance of Madhesi and Janjati parties, are discussing whether to accept or reject Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s offer for talks.Leaders of Sanghiya Gathabandhan, an alliance of Madhesi and Janjati parties, are discussing whether to accept or reject Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s offer for talks.
Leaders have converged at Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum’s office in Tinkune and sources said the discussion is focused on the PM’s talks offer. PM Oli had invited the agitating parties for talks in a bid to resolve the Tarai crisis.
Samajbadi Forum and some Janjati leaders are adamant that the letter should be addressed to the Gathabandhan instead to the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM). Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Forum Ganatantrik, Nepal Sadhbhawana Party and other Madhes-based parties, however, say that since the protests till date have been organised on Morcha’s name, PM’s offer of talks with Morcha should be taken on a positive note.
Senior figures of all the parties except Sadhbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato are present in the meeting. Despite his absence in Gathabandhan’s meet, Mahato will attend a Morcha meet slated later for today, sources said.
