Chairman of the party, Rajendra Mahato put forth such proposal during a meeting held in the Capital on Friday.
He also revealed that efforts were underway towards forging unity with Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party—another key party in the Madhes agitation.
Talking to the Post, leader Mahato said, “Leaders of both the parties—TMLP and Sadbhawana—have felt a need for unity. We will propose unity with other parties as well.”
Mahato had informally proposed unity among both the parties during inauguration ceremony of TMLP’s General Convention in Nawalparasi on June 20. However, TMLP’s response on the issue is still due.
Mahato has already remarked that the protest of Sanghiya Gathabandhan—an alliance of 29 Madhesi and Janajati parties—have failed to put any pressure on the government.
Venting his dissatisfaction at the relay hunger strike being staged by the Gathabandhan at Khullamanch in Kathmandu against the constitution—that Madhesi parties term as being discriminatory against the Madhesi people—leader Mahato put stress on initiating another non-cooperation movement against the government.
The party also expressed its grief over the death of 13 Nepalis killed in Kabul suicide bomb attack on June 14 and condemned the attack by carried out by Taliban. It also wished for speedy recovery of the injured Nepalis.
“The meeting demands with government to provide compensation and relief to aggrieved families,” read the statement released after the meeting.
