The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has condemned Dr Govinda KC’s demand seeking impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki, among other commissioners.

In its strong worded statement issued on Sunday following Dr KC’s announcement to sit for 8th round of indefinite hunger strike to put pressure on the government to abide by the past agreements, the anti-graft body said that Dr KC’s demands are the result of his ‘narrow minded, chaotic and unhealthy mentality’.

Regarding the CIAA’s move to take over the entrance examination of Kathmandu University School of Medicine after suspecting a question leak, Dr KC has demanded that the parliament launch an impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Karki and take action against other commissioners.

The CIAA challenged Dr KC to present facts on the accusations levelled against the anti-corruption body.

Clarifying the CIAA’s intervention in KU School of Medicine’s entrance examination, the statement said, “After receiving numerous complaints from stakeholders, the CIAA directed Medical Council to conduct fair investigation into the examination.”

The CIAA viewed that Dr KC’s repeated hunger strikes, in the veil of uplifting medical sector, has led to the destruction and regression of the sector rather than its development.

The anti-graft body also urged public not to be misled by Dr KC’s baseless accusations against the body.
