Nepse crosses 1700 mark to record a new high

The surge in commercial banks’ benchmark led the overall Nepse gain 36.6 points forcing the market to cross 1,700 points for the first time.
On Monday, the index of commercial banks escalated 61.07 points which was followed by development banks, hydropower and finance companies. Of the two losers—insurance and hotels— insurance companies’ Nepse plunged 95.57 points.
Everest Bank posted the biggest turnover of Rs99.54 million. Besides, Nepal SBI Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Nabil Bank and NMB Bank were among the top five companies in terms of the biggest turnover.
Likewise, promoters’ share of Rastriya Beema Company, with adding up 1,046 points, was the biggest gainer while NLG Insurance posted the biggest fall of 75 points.
Along with the upward spiral in the capital market, there was turnover of Rs1.63 billion out of trading of 4,925,276 shares. The market capitalisation has reached 1,846.92 billion.
