‘Govt bent on splitting alliance’
Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Chairman Sharat Singh Bhandari has accused the government of trying to create a rift among the agitating parties.Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Chairman Sharat Singh Bhandari has accused the government of trying to create a rift among the agitating parties.
Bhandari claimed that the government’s “refusal to acknowledge the existence of the Sanghiya Gathabandhan” was a ploy to split the Madhesi and Janajati coalition and weaken the ongoing movement. Speaking at a programme organised to mark the party’s fourth establishment day, Bhandari said the Gathabandhan was not to be mistaken as a competitor of the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha, an alliance of the Tarai parties.
“The Gathabandhan was formed at the behest of the Madhes-based parties to give the movement a national shape. The two should not be viewed as rivals,” said Bhandari.
The alliances have been agitating for amendment to the new constitution.
