Deliberations on the Appropriation Bill that had been stalled for a week due to obstruction of the House by main opposition Nepali Congress party resumed on Wednesday.Deliberations on the Appropriation Bill that had been stalled for a week due to obstruction of the House by main opposition Nepali Congress party resumed today.
In the Legislature-Parliament today, discussion on the budgetary allocations to Ministry of Information and Communications, Health, Land Reforms and Management, Agriculture Development, Industry, Law, Justice and Federal Affairs and Youth and Sports under the Appropriation Bill was completed.
On the occasion, lawmakers commented that though Nepal is an agriculture-based country the budget has made no concrete policy and programme to incentivize farmers, initiate scientific land reforms and integrate land for productivity.
The government should be cautious to check possible seizure of the state-sponsored agriculture subsidy to farmers by affluent sections, they said, demanding the arrangement of non-registered land to squatters.
The parliamentarians also demanded focus on the initiatives to provide youths with employment and easy access to information technology, modernize agriculture and expand access to health service for all. The lawmakers vented their ire at the government for not specifying specific programme in the budget towards offering self-employment to the youths, who are going abroad in large number almost every day.
They also drew the attention of the government to come up with programme to make youth force disciplined through the means of sports.
Taking part in today's deliberations were Narayan man Bijukchhe, Bahadur Singh Tamang, Leela Devi Shrestha, Dhan Bahadur Rayamajhi, Aditya Man Kasaudhan, Krishna Dhital, Champa Devi Khadka, Guru Prasad Burlakoti and Surya Prasa Rai, among others.
Next meeting of the Legislature-Parliament shall take place at 11.00 am Thursday. RSS
