Says preparations to introduce e-governance in all 35 wards almost completedThe Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is going to introduce e-governance services in all 35 wards of the metropolis starting July 16.
According to KMC Chief and Executive Officer Rudra Singh Tamang, this will significantly reduce the time service seekers have to spend to get their work done.
“We have trained all our staff,” said Tamang. Service seekers can visit KMC’s central office at Sundhara or any of the ward offices to get their work done, added Tamang.
All the information related to house construction permit, tax, birth registration, death and marriage, garbage collection, scholarship documents and citizenship certificate recommendation among others will be available online after the KMC introduced e-governance system. So far, the record section of the metropolis has digitised 2,500 documents with over 16,000 pages.
“We will be digitising 201,000 documents soon,” said Devi Kumari Timalsina, legal officer at KMC.
The KMC has allocated Rs 67.5 million for installing Municipal Administration and Revenue System in the metropolis for this fiscal year, with the Asian Development Bank providing a financial aid of Rs 90 million.
A field survey conducted by the KMC last year had found that only 45.3 percent of the service seekers were satisfied with its services with a whopping 66.6 percent of the respondents saying that they were kept in dark regarding the metropolis’ project selection and implementation procedures.
Majority of people had expressed dissatisfaction at metropolis not providing information.
