The District Public Health Office data reveals that 85 dengue patients were recorded from July 2015 to June 2016. The Office has launched a 'search and destroy' campaign targeting the larvae of the mosquito responsible for transmission of the disease.
At least a person has died from among the dengue patients, Office Chief, Madhu Sudan Koirala said. The person had been brought to the Chitwan Medical College for treatment two months ago but died in the course.
In the preceding fiscal year, an examination was carried out on a total of 1,678 people in which dengue was detected among 119 persons. This year test carried out on 1,086 persons showed 85 to have been suffering from the disease.
The dengue which took the form of an epidemic in 2010 in Chitwan had killed five persons from among 739 people infected. RSS
