JUNE 16: A little boy pulls the chariot of his grandfather, Gunna Maharjan, during the third Janku ritual at Mangal Bazar, Lalitpur. Janku is a ritual celebration performed when a man or woman from Newar community turns 77-years-old. Five Jankus are performed during the lifetime of a person if s/he lives up to 106 years old. JUNE 17: The photo shows a hostel for school students established at Chitwan district’s remote Kanda, Lothar-9 VDC. The hostel that houses some 123 students was constructed by Laxmi Foundation at a cost of Rs5 million. The village is one-day walk distance from district headquarters. JUNE 22: Relatives of 12 Nepali workers killed in Kabul suicide attack grieve at Tribhuvan International Airport as the coffins arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Twelve Nepali working for a security company that provided services to the Canadian Embassy were killed in the suicide attack in Afghan Capital on June 20. (Angad Dhakal)

 

JUNE 23: Locals and security personnel from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City try to restrain a buffalo in Sahidgate, Sundhara, Kathmandu on Thursday. According to eyewitness, the buffalo ran amok on the busy street and injured more than 10 people before the security personnel subdued it. (Hemanta Shrestha)

JUNE 24: Hollywood actor Michelle Yeoh (right) addresses lawmakers at ICC, Baneshwor in Kathmandu. UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Yeoh inquired about reconstruction activities and sustainable development progress made by Nepal with the parliamentarians.
