Flood triggered by heavy rainfall has damaged a pillar of the only bridge that connects four villages along the Manakamana-Tupche route causing disruption to transportation services in the area.
The flood water that gushed under the bridge weakened and dislocated the foundation pillar at the side of Manakamana VDC. The roads alongside the bridge are also rendered dysfunctional. This has hit vehicular movement in Manakamana, Fikuri, Salme and Bhalche VDCs.
“It is impossible for any vehicle to cross the river,” said Bhairavi Rana Magar of Tupche VDC.
According to the Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, threat from the flood still looms over the unstable bridge.
