Govt forms committee to study implementation of ration card system
The government on Monday formed a six member committee to study on implementing ration card system. According to Supply Ministry, the committee led by the ministry’s joint-secretary Uttam Prasad Nagila involves an under-secretary each from Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. Niraj Poudel, director at Department of Supplies Management, Prem Prasad Acharya, under-secretary at the same department and Bimala Khanal, president of Consumer Eye Nepal are among the other committee members.
Ananda Ram Regmi, spokesperson of Supply Ministry said the committee has been mandated to study the practice of neighbouring countries, significance of implementing the card system and the necessary steps that the government needed to take for successful implementation of the ration card. The committee has been given a three months deadline for furnishing its tasks.
