New televisions launched ahead of festive season

Him Electronics, the authorised distributor of Samsung electronics in Nepal, has opened pre-bookings for its Super-Ultra High Definition (SUHD) television sets based on the ‘second generation quantum dot technology’. The first generation quantum dot SUHD televisions were launched in Nepal in 2015.
“Samsung has applied the finest technology available to enhance the viewing experience with life-like contrast features,” said Shekhar Golchha, managing director of Him Electronics. “Samsung has become a top-notch brand over the years, and it has gained competitive advantages through competencies like right positioning and superior technology.”
As of the present, advance orders can be placed for two models from the KS 9 series, namely the UA55KS9000 (55-inch size) and the UA65KS9000 (65-inch size) with screen resolutions of 2160 x 3840 and 3840 x 2160 respectively. Both models are powered by an octa-core processor and have features like built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and display mirroring, among others. The televisions also support video streaming apps, web, connected pay TV boxes and gaming consoles, content on compatible networked devices, browsing and entertainment applications.
The first model has been priced at Rs419,000 while the latter costs Rs629,000. Moreover, customers can get freebies like a Samsung Galaxy S7 and edge and Samsung Gear VR. The pre-booking period lasts till August 12.
“The new SUHD TV lineup can display content with extremely high picture quality of 1,000 nit brightness, which is the standard for premium content produced in Hollywood,” the company said.
Navin Distributors, the authorised dealer of Hisense television, is also set to launch new models in the ultra HD segment. Managing Director Asish Tibrewla said his company would soon add new 55-inch and 50-inch televisions under the lower price segment. Hisense offers regular, smart, LED and curved TVs of up to 58 inches in size with prices ranging from Rs20,000 to Rs750,000.
Meanwhile, distributors said that television sales surged during the recently concluded Euro Football. Tibrewla said that sales of Hisense televisions jumped 30 percent over a month during the Euro Cup. “The ultra HD set with a 55-inch display topped the charts in terms of sales,” he added.
Similarly, Nepa Hima Trade Link, the authorised distributor of Sony televisions, has also reported a growth of 15 to 30 percent in sales. “We have observed a fair growth in the television segment and our market presence is growing,” said Jasmine Shrestha, assistant marketing manager at Nepa Hima Trade Link.
Prices of Sony televisions in Nepal range from Rs48,500 to Rs795,000. The distributor will be offering updated models in the four series—X, W, R and P—in the coming days. Sony currently offers LED, LCD, HD and 4K
televisions.
