More than 2500 homes inundated in Saptari

More than 2500 houses in Saptari district have been submerged in flood water due to swelling river triggered by incessant rain. Authorities have issued warnings to the residents of Shankarapur and Tilathika in the district to migrate to safer destination.
Villagers whose houses have been waterlogged are taking shelter at schools, higher land and neighbor's places.
District Administration Office, Saptari informed that flood water has entered into 100 houses in Topa VDC while 50 houses have been inundated in adjacent Kajauli village.
Likewise, flood in Jita River has waterlogged 100 houses in Mahadeva VDC, 50 in Bathanaha and 25 in Bhagatpur. Similarly, flood in Mouhuli River has flooded 50 houses each in Bhardaha and Portaha VDCs, locals informed.
Vehicular movement has been badly affected due to flood water passing through Topa along Rajbiraj-Bhardaha road section in the district. Also, a road connecting Rajbiraj to Indian market has been hampered by flood, affecting the transportation.
The locals are terrified as rain still continues.
Water level increases in Saptakoshi River
Police have issued warnings to settlers along Koshi's western bank to remain alert after water level on the river increased due to continuous rainfall.
The level was measured at 233,600 cusec per second this afternoon, informed Saptari DSP Dan Bahadur Karki.
Karki informed that 33 doors of the barrage have been opened after the rise in water level.
