The water level in the Rapti river crossed the danger mark in Banke district on Tuesday district following incessant rainfall.
According to Bhadra Bahadur Thapa at Kushuma-based flood recording centre, water level of the Rapti river has risen to 5.20 metre. He said water level is rising continually as the rainfall has not stopped.
Assistant chief of Banke district Bakhat Bahadur Malla said the people living in the risk areas have been alerted through siren about possible flash floods and asked to move to safer location.
They were alerted by the floods through siren because it takes around six hours to reach the flooded area from Kushum. Over a dozen villages have been affected by the floods in Rapti riever.
