The consulting firm has targeted to facilitate foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country by collaborating with potential investors.
Organising a conclave entitled “Uncovering Nepal—Exploring Trends and Emerging Opportunities” here on Thursday, the company said it would work to bridge the gap between policymakers and the private sector from around the globe, including domestic investors.
Manoj Menon, managing director of Frost & Sullivan, Asia Pacific, said many investors at present had been considering investing in Nepal despite ongoing political instability. “If proper policies are developed, foreign investors are keen to invest mainly in hydropower and tourism related infrastructure,” he said.
Established in 1961, Frost & Sullivan has been working in 36 countries. It started to conduct research-based study in Nepal since November 2015. The company has focused its work on maintaining statistics through research-based analysis and helping to develop and implement strategy and vision for both government and private organisations.
Mangesh Lal Shrestha, managing director of Frost & Sullivan Nepal, said they had targeted to put Nepal in the global map to facilitate FDI in the country. He said the company was launching pilot projects in 14 areas, including software development, research, automotive, telecommunications, capacity building and energy, among others.
Shrestha underscored the need for promoting digital technology, skilled manpower and increasing the country’s publicity in the international market. “Provided these things are done, it could attract a large volume of investments even amid ongoing political instability,” said Shrestha.
According to Shrestha, the company plans to establish more than 50 research centres across the country. He said Frost & Sullivan Nepal will also be hosting an international meet under the theme “Growth, Innovation and Leadership Forum” on November 9.
