Local level restructuring: Morang, Ruphandhei to have most numbers of local bodies

Two districts will have highest 13 local units while three districts will have three local units as per the size and population.
According to the commission, Morang and Ruphandehi will have highest numbers of local bodies. Both districts considered big in terms of geography and population will have 13 local level bodies each.
Sindhupalchok will have 12 local level units. Sunsari, Saptari, Sarlahi, Kavre, Dhading and Nawalparasi will have 11 each while.
Jhapa, Dhanusha, Rautahat, Dang and Kailali each will have 10 local level units,
the commission has recommended.
Seven districts— Khotang, Bara, Mahottari, Nuwakot, Makawanpur, Tanahu and Gulmi— will have nine local level bodies each.
The commission has recommended eight local bodies for Kathmandu, Syangja, Taplejung, Ilam, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Siraha, Parsa, Chitwan, Gorkha, Baglung, Palpa, Dailekh, Surkhet, Bajhang and Kanchanpur.
Solukhumbu, Okhal-dhunga, Udayapur, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Lamjung, Kapilvastu, Ropla, Pyuthan, Salyan, Jumla, Bajura, Achham, Darchula and Baitadi each have been recommended seven local units under the new federal structure. Six each for Lalitpur, Parbat, Arghakhanchi, Rukum, Bake, Dolpa and Doti, and five each for Panchthar, Terhathum, Dhankuta, Kaski, Myagdi, Bardiya, Humla, Kalikot and Jajarkot.
Bhaktapur, Mugu and Dadeldhura have been recommended four local units each and three each for the districts of Rasuwa, Manang and Mustang.
On March 15, the government had formed a local body restructuring commission, as per the constitutional provision of forming a commission to determine the number and borders of Village and Municipal Councils within six months of the promulgation of the constitution.
According to Article 56 of the new constitution, the state will be restructured into three levels—federal, provincial and local.
At the local level, the constitution outlines Village Councils, Municipal
Councils and District Assemblies, replacing the existing Village Development Committees, municipalities and District Development Committees.
