Twenty-five people were killed and 42 other injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Deurali VDC-9 in Kavre district on Monday, Home Ministry confirmed.
According to a statement issued by Home Ministry, 25 people died on the spot and another one succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The ill-fated bus (Ba 3 Kha 106) heading for Dolalghat from Kathmandu plunged some 300 metres down the road at Khaharekhola in Birtadeurali at around 1:30 this afternoon, SP Rajeshnath Bastola said. The security personnel have been collecting the dead bodies that are scattered over the slope.
A Nepal Army helicopter reached the incident site and airlifted 28 of the injured passengers for treatment. They have been receiving medical attention at Trauma Centre and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. The accident site is 45 Km away from Dhulikhel.
