Bibeksheel Nepali lodges complaint at NIC seeking CIAA Chief Karki’s property details
Aug 22, 2016-
Bibeksheel Nepali, a political party, has lodged a complaint at the National Information Commission (NIC) seeking property details of chief of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lok Man Singh Karki on Sunday.
In the complaint, the party has stated that the CIAA failed to provide information on Karki's property details for multiple times and officials had even refused to register an application.
Bibeksheel Nepali and Solidarity for Dr KC Alliance, an alliance of supporters of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC, has been staging demonstration outside the CIAA for a month demanding property details of CIAA chief Karki. But each time, police have been manhandling the protesters. Following frequent protests, the District Administration Office recently deemed the area around CIAA premises in Tangal as prohibited area for any sorts of protest.
Sashi Bikram Karki, Bhaktapur District Coordinator of Bibeksheel Nepali, said CIAA has been repeatedly refusing to allow re-appeal on the property detail application. "On Sunday we again tried to lodge another complaint but the officials did not allow us to do so," said Karki. "Then we decided to go to information commission."
According to the existing provisions, the NIC will direct CIAA to provide information to the applicants.
